The Context: Asia-Pacific collects two types of information: information about use of our website, and information about our subscribers.

Information about use of our website

The Context: Asia-Pacific collects non-personally identifiable statistics about visitation and use of this website to understand how people use our website and improve its value to our users. As we do not want to know anything beyond that, we use a service that is committed to privacy, called Simple Analytics, to collect this information. Read about the information that Simple Analytics collects for us.

We also survey our readers from time to time about our users' interests, preferences and views about the website. These surveys are voluntary and anonymous. The results are stored securely and used internally for the purposes of improvement and reporting. We may publish aggregate data to inform our users about our site and the community of users, or for the purpose of reporting to our funders and stakeholders.

Information about our subscribers

We collect two types of information about our subscribers: your sign up information, and survey information.

Sign-up information

To subscribe to receive our newsletters you will need to provide your name and your  email address. We will be able to see if you have received and opened our email newsletters. Our staff will have access to your name, email and the newsletters that you have signed up to.

Survey information

We may survey our subscribers in similar fashion to our users. Such surveys are voluntary. We may ask our subscribers more about their interests. Such surveys might not necessarily be anonymous as the purpose will sometimes be to understand what topics and newsletters our individual subscribers would like to receive. We will always tell you whether a survey is anonymous or not. We hold such information securely and will not be shared outside of the CAPEs organisation.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact us at capes@otago.ac.nz.
